Thermal Imaging
This innovative technology has many applications including monitoring conveyor rollers, tire wear, bearing temps, motor temps, water leaks, and checking for mold or rodents or insects in walls. These duties require specific training and certifications to perform, which our operators have all completed. In addition to maintaining up-to-date education, we ensure our thermal imaging cameras are calibrated annually for the most accurate and reliable results.
Here are a selection of thermal imaging reports, with descriptions of their uses and impacts.
Faulty Mechanism Report
This report shows that the center leg of the disconnect has a faulty mechanism which can lead to wiring failure or disconnect failure, which can shut a machine down for several hours for a new replacement. This work would include performing maintenance on the disconnect, checking connections, operating the switch and checking blade knife integrity.
Fuse Holder Heating Report
This report shows that the fuse holder is heating at the top, which will cause the fuse clips to become overheated and lead to a blown fuse and a bad wire termination.
Phase Temperature Report
This report shows a difference of temperature in phases, which can be caused by excess amperage on the B phase or that the connection is loose and requires tightening. All phases should be close in temperature range for normal operation.
Terminal Strip Report
This report shows that the terminal strip which connects motor leads are not tight, and that the terminal strip is a male and female connection to a plug terminal which can be failing. This could cause motor failure, more excess damage to the starter bucket, and possibly single phase the motor, causing the motor to go bad. A $30 dollar repair now or $500 - $5000 later in repair costs.
Fuse Conductor Report
This report shows high voltage fuses on a pole. The fuses measure a temp of about 80 degrees on two of them and 108 on the other, which indicates a bad connection. With this connection being in a 20 degree upper range at the moment, it does not pose immediate repair but should be investigated. If the issue worsens, this can cause a power outage to the facility with lost time and facility outage for several hours.
Air Gap Report
This report shows an example of a good reference for home owners in the summer and winter time while energy usage is high. These tests can determine where you are loosing air cooling and heating during these months. We typically perform this test on the whole home/ residence to determine where stripping or additional insulation is required. Temperatures can be seen in sheetrock heating and cooling losses.
